Another day, another club. But unlike the Pole Position club, the Malibu has missions to go with it, and they are corkers!
All the Malibu missions are taken from a back room, so head in and past the bar.
Tommy is planning a bank job, and needs a safe man. Problem is, the best guy in the business is currently locked up, so you must go break him out of jail (damn Americans - it's spelled "gaol"!). Grab a car and head down to the Washington Beach police station (which is actually VCPD's headquarters).
Park the car outside the police station, pointing west. This way the driver's door is nearest to you, and besides which you'll want to head west across the river anyway. Make sure you've got plenty of guns, but put them ALL AWAY! Then walk into the VCPD...
First, you need to turn left and go into the station's locker room to pick up the cop's outfit. Don't worry about the two stars you may earn, as they'll vanish when you change clothes. Now you need to head deep into the heart of the police station to collect the keycard to the cells. Go left out of the locker room and head down the corridor to the end. Then turn right and go up the steps into the office beyond. The keycard is in a cubicle at the back - in the same place as a Hidden Package.
Now take the keycard down to the cells - back into the main corridor and take a turning right halfway down it. Down the steps into a duty room, then turn right and down the steps to the cells. Walk into the pink marker and get ready...
Now the shit hits the fan. Whap! Four stars. Get the Colt Python out and protect yourself (and Cam) from the policemen. They will keep spawning from the door at the end of the corridor so you just want to clear a path for yourself to get out to the car.
Get into the car - and here's the sneaky part. DON'T WAIT FOR CAM. Drive straight off to lose your four stars (collect bribes to make your route to the Pay'n'Spray easier, or just collect enough bribes). Then, when you're back on no stars, return to the police station for Cam. Now just drive him to his place and drop him off.
Mission Reward: $1000
Now you need a hired gun for the bank job - Cam suggests Phil Cassidy, so go to the shooting range at Ammu-Nation in Downtown and speak to him.
Oh but of course Phil will only work for you IF you can beat him on the shooting range (which begs the question, if he's so good and Tommy is better, why do we need him, but hey...). You only need 60 points on the three rounds put together, which is absolutely simple.
There is NOTHING I can do to help you here. If you suck, you suck. But concentrate on getting the back target - it's worth three points every time you take it out (as in shooting all five panels - you get nothing for a panel) and only move onto the others when the 3-pointer isn't available. I prefer to shoot four panels of the 2 & 1 point targets out, to give me three easy points with two shots near the end of your time/ammo. You should be getting on towards high-30s by the time you've cleared the first area.
Now move onto the second area - this is the typical shooting range. Pop everything that moves. All targets are worth one point and take one shot, so you should be doubling your points here to just over 70.
The third area is more difficult, as the targets move quicker. But you'll have more than enough time to empty your gun - 20 points is a good ballpark figure.
Go back and talk to Phil - he'll propose to you. Strange guy. But now you've got another member of your gang hired.
Mission Reward: $2000
Now you need a driver - but he will only work for you if you can beat him in a race. This begs the question, if Tommy is better than all his gang members at everything, why the hell does he need them at all? If you want to pass this mission easily, and not spend the rest of your life chasing Hillary's Sabre Turbo, you'll need to prepare. Get a fast car - obviously the Hotring Racer is favourite, if you've completed the Sunshine Autos missions, but a Cheetah or Infernus is good enough if you haven't - and park it next to the VCPD HQ at Washington Beach police station. You need to be on the south-westerly road, pointing south-westerly and on the right-hand side of the road. And don't forget to leave the door open...
Now go start the mission - if you've already started, that'll teach you. Try your best and come back with the Hotring Racer next time.
By now you'll have noticed that Hillary is driving a Sabre Turbo. And you have a Sentinal XS. You're boned. But, as you reach the third checkpoint, leap out and into your waiting car. Catch him, pass him and don't look back!
Mission Reward: $5000
Time for the Bank Job to go down. Tommy makes it sound easy, but this mission is as hard as hell - which makes it one of the greats.
First off, you must drive (yes you, and not the "Driver" Hillary. Ass) to the bank, so climb into the Taxi provided and drive across town to Little Havana. Really, if you fail this bit, you need shooting. Once there, you, Cam and Phil will get out and Hillary will drive the car around until you come out again. Walk across the street, and next to the bank is a pink marker... You'll change into an overalls outfit complete with ice hockey mask...
And now for the hard part. Head into the bank ("El Banco Corrupto Grande"). The raid will begin - don't be tempted to shoot anyone, or the alarm will go off and you'll be in a world of trouble. Instead, lead Cam upstairs to the vault, as instructed. Take it steadily though - as you reach the first office level, two guards will come shooting at you - so take them out. Head on up the stairs to the next level, and on the landing surrounding the bank floor, two more guards will take a pop at you - off them as well. Go to the lift in the south-west corner (it's got a pink marker in front of it). Get in and go up to the next level, where a dumb guard won't even see you until you blow him away. Go to the safe - bad news. It's a Flange 9000, so you need the manager's codes.
Get back in the lift and go back down the stairs to the first office.Go to the back and get the manager.
Before you head down to Phil, equip the Colt Python, whatever you were carrying before. You'll need it. Phil's lost control a little - the alarm goes off. RUN like hell to the bank floor and get into the pink marker. SWAT will storm the bank - they'll come from the ceiling. Run to the back of the bank, to get out of the range of the tear gas, and just keep Tommy aiming at new targets. Colt them to hell! There'll be six of them in total, and Phil will shout when you've got the last one (although he was two bodybags early when I did it). You'll have four wanted stars by now.
And now it gets REALLY hard. Hillary pulls up in the car, gets out to start shooting and... dies. Good. You must get to the car and clear the hell out of there - without getting Phil killed. Shoot at anyone that moves - rocket the SWAT Enforcers out of your way. Leap in the Taxi and drive up the road to the Pay'n'Spray and you're sorted. Curiously, the SWAT seem to remember you and shoot at you anyway if you drive past, regardless of not having a wanted level, so go back to Cam's via Little Havana to save some trouble - you cannot go to Cam's place (or at least there's no pink marker there) while you have even ONE wanted star.
You should note that only you and Phil must survive the mission - Hillary WILL die, and Cam CAN die. There is a rumour that if Cam does happen to kark it, you will get more money than if he survives (2 of you split the proceeds, rather than 3 - makes sense). However, on the PS2 version at least, that's not true - you get the same bonus either way. Still, die Cam! Die!
Mission Reward: $50000; Phil Cassidy contact point opened (after phone call); Bank Job outfit at the Malibu Club.
Bank Heist Asset Completed. It will now generate revenue up to a maximum of $10000 a day
